President
Fast Track Marketing
Doug Sims is a marketing consultant with over 35 years of experience in sales, sales management and marketing in the office equipment, semiconductor, technology licensing and refractive surgery fields. Doug served as Division Manager for Lanier Worldwide, before becoming Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Marketing for Gradco Systems, Inc. and then later, DP-TEK, Inc. During Doug's twelve years with Lanier Worldwide, he worked extensively with medical practices and hospitals on improving their internal practices and efficiency.
Doug led DP-TEK's sales and marketing to become the world leader in the implementation of sub-nanosecond laser pulse width modulation technology. In 1996, after licensing the Technology to approximately 80% of the world's laser printer manufacturers, Doug arranged and managed the acquisition of DP-TEK by the Hewlett Packard Company. After the acquisition of his company by HP, Doug became an independent marketing consultant for Hewlett Packard, Texas Instruments, and other semiconductor and software development companies, until founding Fast Track Marketing in 2003.
Doug observed that conventional advertising methods are heavily oriented toward brand building which only works well for large companies with multi-million dollar advertising budgets. Small and medium sized businesses really need a more effective way to increase their customer bases. Doug became a Master Consulting Agent for Monopolize Your Marketplace, a national marketing consulting firm which developed the highly acclaimed Monopolize Your Marketplace System which was specifically designed to optimize the marketing and advertising results for small and medium sized businesses.
Doug also recognized that most refractive practices have a relatively informal sales process and little or no formal sales management system. With a background of over 35 years of sales and sales management experience and more than five years of working with refractive sales counselors, Doug led his team’s development and leads the delivery of a formal sales training course for refractive sales counselors.
Fast Track Marketing now employs a full team of highly skilled marketing specialists and is delivering comprehensive marketing and sales training services which results in increased patient flow and profitability for its Refractive Surgery and vision care clients.
Doug is married and has 5 grown children and four grandchildren. He and his wife, Gigi, enjoy mountain hiking, scuba diving, biking and golfing, when time permits.
- Led Lanier Worldwide’s efforts to unseat the industry leader for worldwide implementation of new word processing systems at the General Electric Company resulting in the largest contract ever awarded in the WP industry.
- Managed 7 branches with over 75 salespeople, 12 Sales Managers, 10 Technical Service Managers and over 110 Service Technicians earning the distinction as Division Manager of the Year for highest increases in sales.
- Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Marketing for Gradco Systems, the leader in manufacturing paper sorters and feeders for the copier industry.
- Responsible for licensing proprietary laser pulse-width-modulation technology to 80% of the world’s laser printer manufacturers.
- Developed and implemented the strategic plan that resulted in the acquisition of that technology licensing company by the Hewlett Packard Company.
- Provided sales and marketing consulting to Hewlett Packard, Texas Instruments and other semi-conductor manufacturers.
- Observed and studied the refractive sales process within a dozen successful and non-successful refractive practices
President’s Assistant, Office Manager
Penney is the President’s Assistant, office manager and our professional proofreader. Her days are filled with a variety of activities with a group as dynamic as ours! She creates policy and procedural manuals for the company, makes travel arrangements for the entire team, manages the president’s schedule and proofreads all marketing materials. In short, she keeps the entire team functioning smoothly.
She is extensively trained and proficient in Hubbard Management Technology and brought to the team a wealth of knowledge in organizational skills and experience.
Penney loves the outdoors, hiking, traveling and riding the motorcycle with her husband.
Client Project Manager
Jonna is the most senior member of the Client Project Manager team. She started at Fast Track Marketing as an intern while earning her BS in Marketing Management from Johnson & Wales University. After earning her degree, Jonna took on working for Fast Track Marketing full-time.
Jonna has a personal knowledge of our clients and is constantly providing valuable client management to all of our customers. Her thorough attention and straight-forward attitude with media and advertising reps puts her client’s heartburn to ease.
Client Project Manager
Cuinn (like Quinn, but with a ‘C’) graduated from the University of Nebraska Lincoln with a BS in Marketing and a minor in History. He lived in Los Angeles for awhile, where he worked for California Wood Products as the Director of Marketing. Then he became a Senior Sales Consultant for Intuit Payroll Services until the mountains persuaded Cuinn to move to Colorado. Before working for Fast Track Marketing, Cuinn was also the District Sales Manager for Mosaic Employer Solutions.
Cuinn provides an exhaustive appetite for learning and trying new things in marketing. His can-do attitude and strong work ethic provide Fast Track Marketing’s clients the speed and confidence that they come to depend on with Fast Track Marketing.
Client Project Manager
Michelle also came to us from the Midwest, where she graduated from Coe College with a BA in Business Administration and a BA in English.
She lived in Nebraska for five years, working at Pappas Telecommunications/Fox 42 and then for three years at Journal Broadcast Group, as a Non-Traditional Revenue Event Coordinator. At Journal Broadcast Group, she coordinated the biggest Bridal Fair the company has had to date, with over 3,000 attendees. She then worked for a year at NDS Nutrition as a Marketing Manager before she decided to move to Colorado.
Prior to Fast Track Marketing, Michelle worked at ColdSpark, an email technology company, as the Marketing Communications Coordinator. Michelle brings marketing diversity to Fast Track Marketing, which provides valuable ideas and creative outlets for our clients.
Sales Associate
Kurt loves to talk to anyone on the phone! He speaks with Office Managers, Refractive Coordinators, and LASIK doctors all over the United States every day.
Kurt’s most notable accomplishment came when he was working for Radio Frequency Online Training. His dedication and persistence assisted sales to rise from 5K per year to 200K per month! It’s his commitment to Fast Track marketing that makes Kurt a valuable asset to the team.
Graphic Design Manager
With a BA in Communication Design from Metro State College, James has not only brought excellent design skills to Fast Track Marketing – he has also brought with him a wealth of design expertise. Throughout his career, James has learned how to create camera-ready art for numerous substrates that are not generally taught in college (ceramics, glass, cloth, etc.).
Prior to working with Fast Track Marketing, James has also worked as a graphic designer/production artist with Flying Cricket Promotionals. Being a jack of all things design and very personable makes James an integral part of the Fast Track Marketing Team.
IT Manager
Salvador (or Sal, as he is known at Fast Track Marketing) received his BA in Economics and his BA in Spanish Sociology from The University of New Mexico. He is currently working on his Master of Science in Information Systems from the University of Colorado in Denver.
Not only does Sal work on all things technology related, he’s also our LIVE program video guru. We often hear a broken-record repeat of sounds coming from his computer, but it’s worth it! The end result can be seen on our clients’ Facebook and You Tube sites - live patient surgeries and their testimonials.
Financial Director
The newest member to our team, Natas hailed to Colorado from Virginia. With studies in accounting, her previous work included being an Office and Accounting Manager in Artisan Remodeling & Constructing in Alexandria, VA and the Assistant Vice President of Accounting in Cardinal Management Group, Inc. in Woodbridge, VA.
Natas’ accounting expertise provides Fast Track Marketing and our clients the guidance and professionalism needed in her position. However, Natas is not all about crunching numbers – just ask her about her work in photography!
